If you’ve landed on this page, you’re considering helping us make this summer’s trip a reality – THANK YOU! Our eight previous Washington To Washington trips were huge successes, but we urgently need your help to make it happen again in 2019. Thanks so much in advance for your amazing kindness and generosity.

There are three crucial ways you can lend your support:

1) Contribute to our Trip Fund!

We are trying to raise $30,000 total to cover the remaining trip expenses — van rentals, gas, and food, primarily, plus other camping gear and travel costs. We raised over $12,000 this spring, and we’re now making our final push for the last $18,000. ANY amount is hugely appreciated!! Remember, 100% of your contribution goes directly to the kids to cover the cost of their trip. All staff members and trip leaders participate on an unpaid, volunteer basis.

Off-season, when our IndieGoGo campaign is not live, our official 501(c)3 non-profit partner organization, Big Car, accepts online donations on our behalf. Simply click right here and complete the online donation form. (Please be sure to mention “Washington To Washington” – or “W2W” for short – in the Notes section.) In the coming weeks, you’ll receive an official Thank You letter to ensure your contribution will be fully tax-deductible.

Year-round, you can also send a check in any amount payable to “Big Car,” with Washington to Washington in the Memo line. Checks can be sent to:

    • Big Car
    • Attn: Washington to Washington
    • 1125 Cruft Street
    • Indianapolis, IN 46203

2) Sponsor a hiker!

The cost of food, lodging, and supplies for each of these kids is $200, and we’re actively looking for individuals, groups, and businesses who are interested in becoming sponsors. (We can match you with other co-sponsors if you’d like to contribute but cannot offer the full $200.) If you’re interested in helping one of these hikers make a trip to the Michigan wilderness this summer, just find which unsponsored hiker you’d like to sponsor (you can see them on our Hikers page) and drop a note when you contribute on the fundraising page!

3) Spread the word!

If you believe in our mission and the value of this trip, we ask you to please help us spread word to others in your life who might also be interested in supporting Washington II Washington. This will be our seventh Washington II Washington hike, and getting word out about the trip and the ways people can help is really critical. Here are some ideas for spreading the word:

  • Email your friends and family about the trip, and include a link to WashingtonToWashington.org, our short YouTube video, and fundraising page.
  • Post a link to WashingtonToWashington.org, our YouTube video and our fundraising page on your Facebook or Twitter page.
  • Let us know about media outlets (daily newspapers, weeklies, radio stations, etc.) who can help us get word out, especially if you or someone you know works at a media outlet.
  • Blog about Washington II Washington.
  • Let people know about Washington II Washington when you’re at the pool hall, barbershop, library, bar, and church.

Your help in casting a wider net and spreading word about the trip is hugely valuable and extremely appreciated.

Thank You Gifts!!

As a small token of our massive appreciation, we will be sending special Thank You gifts to everyone who contributes– everything from photos, personal Thank You cards from the kids, autographed books, and more! You can check out the kinds of Thank You gifts we send out in the Perks section on the right side of this year’s IndieGoGo fundraising page.

We are grateful for gifts of any amount, so please give whatever you can. Even $5, $10, and $15 are deeply meaningful — every dollar counts!
