There are three crucial ways you can lend your support:

1) Sponsor a hiker

The cost of food, lodging, and supplies for each of these kids is $300, and we’re actively looking for individuals, groups, and businesses who are interested in becoming sponsors. (We can match you with other co-sponsors if you’d like to contribute but cannot offer the full $300.) If you’re interested in helping one of these hikers make a trip to the Shenandoah Mountains this summer, please email us at WashingtonToWashington@Gmail.com ! Just let us know the amount you’d like to contribute and we’ll respond with options for how to offer payment.

2) Contribute to the Trip Fund.

Beyond the costs for individual hikers, we are trying to raise $6,000 to cover the remaining trip expenses — van rentals and gas, primarily, plus other camping gear and travel costs. ANY amount is hugely appreciated!! Besides the knowledge that your contribution has helped bring this trip to life, you will receive awesome Thank You gifts from us. Please see below for a complete list of the gifts we’ll be sending out to all who help. Remember, all contributions go directly to the kids to cover the cost of their trip. All staff members and trip leaders participate on an unpaid, volunteer basis.

You can contribute to the Trip Fund by emailing us at WashingtonToWashington@Gmail.com. Let us know the amount you’d like to offer, and we’ll write back quickly with options for how to pay via credit card or PayPal. You can also send a check in any amount payable to ‘Washington To Washington.‘ Checks can be sent to:

    Washington II Washington
    3455 Charing Cross Road
    Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108

3) Spread the word!

If you believe in our mission and the value of this trip, we ask you to please help us spread word to others in your life who might also be interested in supporting Washington II Washington. This is just our second Washington II Washington hike, and getting word out about the trip and the ways people can help is really critical. Here are some ideas for spreading the word:

  • Email your friends and family about the trip, and include a link to WashingtonToWashington.org, our short YouTube video, and our Facebook page.
  • Post a link to WashingtonToWashington.org or our YouTube video on your Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter page.
  • Let us know about media outlets (daily newspapers, weeklies, radio stations, etc.) who can help us get word out, especially if you or someone you know works at a media outlet.
  • Blog about Washington II Washington and include links to our website, our video, and Facebook page.
  • Let people know about Washington II Washington when you’re at the pool hall, barbershop, library, bar, and church.

Your help in casting a wider net and spreading word about the trip is hugely valuable and extremely appreciated.

Thank You Gifts!!

As a small token of our massive appreciation, we will be sending special Thank You gifts to everyone who contributes. These will include one or more of the following: special handwritten Thank You cards from one of the Hikers, 8″ x 10″ photographs of the entire group of hikers, Found Magazines and This American Life CDs, PostSecret books autographed by Frank Warren, and limited-edition Washington II Washington T-shirts — the same ones that the hikers will be wearing as they climb the Shenandoah Mountains!

We are grateful for gifts of any amount, so please give whatever you can. Even $5, $10, and $15 are deeply meaningful — every dollar counts!

We are in the process of becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so your gift will most likely be tax-deductible. All contributions, no matter how small or how large, are welcomed with enormous love and gratitude! Please give now!
